The New York-based online insurance company, Policygenius, recently expanded into the newly developed 555 Mangum Building located in downtown Durham, NC. The iconic view of the Durham Bulls Athletic Park and access to the American Tobacco Campus are ideal for drawing emerging talent to their second headquarters. In the midst of a brand overhaul, Policygenius sought an interior design that would match their distinctive brand and culture. The final interior incorporated splashes of emerald green, rusted orange, and golden yellow, while black design elements and warm walnut wood tones balanced the creative color palette. With an office comprised of benching workstations, it was important to provide large open collaboration spaces. Since these valuable collaboration areas also take-up a large chunk of real estate, we created a multi-function design that would enable them to be used for training, brainstorming, or for ad hoc lunch meetings. An abundance of smaller huddle rooms also provided employees the opportunity to form smaller break-out sessions or quiet zones for “heads down” work. The project resulted in an energetic environment sure to spark innovations in the ever-evolving insurance business.
