This project is an adaptive reuse venture of a 1930’s era manufacturing building in the rapidly growing innovation hub of North End Charlotte. The new, transformative space is slated to accommodate retail, coworking units, a brewery, and a multi-purpose community gathering area. Transforming a nearly 100-year-old building required significant restorative efforts. The project team was very intentional about maintaining the original integrity of the building. Significant site work included a cast-in-place tiered retaining wall feature and 400 parking spaces to accommodate tenants and visitors. Multiple hidden gems were discovered in the building that were preserved and accentuated in the design including the original boiler and HAVC equipment. The end result is a diamond in the rough, with a ton of character, that is sure to drive future development in the area.
